Successful Transition
/We are in the middle of a huge.... and I mean huge.... transition. I feel it everywhere I go. Things seem up in the air, and unsettled.
This week has brought personal transitions to our family as all of my children are now in school. But as I look around, there are transitions in business, in our government, and in the church. It's like there is a resetting and a rearranging happening.
Here are some simple reminders on how to make it through transition successfully.
- Guard your identity with even more diligence in transition. With change and sometimes chaos around you, it's easy to loose sight of who you are.
- Surround yourself with atmospheres of heaven. Listen to worship music, listen to podcasts, or go to an encounter night. Be purposeful about encountering the presence of Christ ... alone and with people.
- Grieve what is ending. I CANNOT stress this one enough. You are leaving a season. Sometimes that is a good thing, but there is a real pain associated with the ending of this season. Don't pressure yourself to move on without grief. If you do, you will end up with muddied emotions.
- Sit in the uncertainty. When one thing ends, the new one rarely begins with total clarity. Usually, there is a period of time where you are getting acquainted with the new norm, with what the job will expect, or what your purpose is in the new place. Don't rush this time. This awkward tension will produce real clarity if you are willing to just sit in the uncertainty of the new season.
- Seek Jesus for clarity. Transitions are technically the mental changes we make to keep up with the changes in our worlds. It's impossible to transition if something isn't changing. To move forward into the next season, sit with Jesus. Ask Him what He has for you. Seek wisdom and clarity. Clarity is power. It will help you determine and define what you will need to do to make the next season work for you, not overtake you.
The promise of transition from God is glory. In 2 Corinthians it says that we move from glory to glory. So never fear the change, embrace it. But embrace it with diligence and intentionality.
Bless
________, I bless you in the name of Jesus Christ. I bless you with a secure and firm identity. I bless you to know who and whose you are. I bless you to walk with heaven's counsel and I bless you to know the leading of the Holy Spirit. I bless you to step into the new glory God has set aside for you.
Declare
I declare that I am moving into the new season. I will not stay put. I will not shrink back. I will not give up. I am going forward. I will embrace the changes that Jesus brings, and I will do it well. I declare that you are the God of the new thing, and I will move bravely with you.
